It is the flaws that make a face interesting. Have you ever posed in front of a camera? Maybe you’ve never felt adequate. Here’s exactly one reason why you should do it. Being photogenic is not your responsibility, instead my job is to make you comfortable and take the most beautiful photos you have ever had and most importantly in which you recognize and like yourself. A portrait photography session is a fascinating, fun and confidence-boosting time. When you look at one of my prints with a smile or tell me that looking at it made you say, “That’s really you!”, I feel that I have succeeded in my intent.
PRINTED PORTRAIT
who you are, forever
There was a time when only the noble and wealthy could afford a portrait, meaning that only the luckiest of us know the likeness of our ancient ancestors. Since photography has existed, on the contrary, it has become much easier for people to document their existence. Not only that, what joy does it give to occasionally see photos of grandparents or parents when they were young?
Nowadays with smartphones it is increasingly easy to document the present, and that is good, but this ease also brings a number of downsides. First of all with regard to quantity: having millions of “normal” photos, more or less all the same, somewhat reduces the emotional value these give us. But above all, digital memories are liquid: they get lost, they get deleted, we cannot remember where we had saved them, technology has changed, and we struggle to retrieve them.
A first piece of advice I can give you in this regard is to select from the very similar photos the one you prefer and delete the others that take up unnecessary space. Also, print the most important ones and keep them in a specific place, your printed memory drawer, so that you can easily retrieve them whenever you want.
An even bigger invitation is this one: treat yourself to a portrait shoot by a professional portrait photographer. First of all, because the shoot itself is an exciting experience to have at least once in your life. What do you need to do for it to turn out well? Nothing, just bring yourselfə, aloneə or with someone you love. That’s all I need and I’ll take care of the rest. We’ll have a chat to get to know each other, to get an idea of you and how I might make an image that represents you. After the shoot, I will select the best photograph and make a curated and beautiful black and white of it. Finally, I will deliver your fine art print: beautiful, alive, and one that will stay that way forever.
Professional Portrait
to show who you are
Portrait photography is composed of a universe of subcategories, however, the common denominator remains that of representing a subject by enhancing it to the fullest. A single portrait, for example, is to make a concise, iconic image that gives a face to a business, an event, any activity. A photo book, on the other hand, consists of a series of photographs that constitute a sort of corporate image for those working in a business or a resume for those in the fashion or entertainment industries.
In any case, if you are here, chances are you are already convinced that a curated image of your business also comes through a great portrait of the people behind it. Style is everything: it’s the difference between an interesting image and an ordinary one. That’s why I don’t like to take “cooked and eaten” photographs, but every shoot I do is a project in which I put all my skills, technical, artistic and ancillary, to make the most of your image.
Simple or set portrait? Everything we see within a photograph must be consistent and functional in telling us something specific. This is even more true in portraiture. A portrait taken in a studio, thus with a neutral background, serves to create a clean image and focuses the viewer to look at the subject, without any distraction. In contrast, we speak of a set portrait when the subject is set in a context. Even in this case, however, what is behind must be functional in telling us something and contribute, by giving us information or emotions, to construct the image that the person portrayed wants to give of himself.
Personal Branding
A personal branding photo shoot is useful if your business coincides with your persona. In a world where social media is key to conveying branding, more and more entrepreneurs and professionals are realizing that they need quality images to convey their value, to create a connection with the public and potential customers: the more they know and like you, the more willing they are to buy your products and services.
A photo shoot to enhance your brand is for just that: to tell who you are, what you do, how you do it, what you believe in. To accomplish this, after careful analysis, we will create a narrative project that will portray you and your environment, perhaps something personal, what inspires you, what makes you unique and interesting. It may feature studio shoots and/or one or more locations, depending on your preference. If you want to start “taking it slow” to get familiar with it we can arrange a small portrait session so that you have one or a few photos to present you in style.
Corporate Portrait
Corporate portraits, on the other hand, are also aimed at multi-person entities, whether professional firms, craft businesses or large corporations that are aware of the importance to their marketing of revealing faces at the heart of their success.
Some suggestions? They could be photographs for the purpose of enhancing the importance of the company through portraits of management, or the work team, or even to create an archive of images, individual or group, to be used in communications or publications. The project we will do, in this case, will be to identify the general mood of the company, whether it exists or is to be built, and make portraits that follow the style in a coordinated way.
